New “urban media” website, www.TheSoseg.com, was one of the few national media outlets given exclusive access to cover celebration festivities for the Hollywood Walk of Fame Star Presentation VIP Reception, honoring ten-time Grammy Award winning music icon, Chaka Khan on May 19, 2011 at the Kodak Theatre Plaza. The “Soseg”, (pronounced “Sausage”), as it is commonly called, is a new media website recently launched in February that has experienced rapid growth and celebrated it’s millionth hit only one day after covering the high profile, celebrity event in Hollywood. Also highlighted in the event and portrait was her humanitarian spirit that has changed the lives of women and children through her charity, The Chaka Khan Foundation. Artist and Jeweler Alexandrah Sarton, of the Orlando based group, Solillaquists of Sound crafted limited edition gold and silver pendants to be sold for charity benefit, which will be featured on www.ChakaKhanFoundation.org, www.Solilla.com among other websites.
The well attended exclusive red carpet event included the honorees closest friends and family, special celebrity guests such as Stevie Wonder, as well as a special tribute performance from Chaka Khan’s Biggest Fan, 16 year old singing sensation, Samuel Collie of Miami, FL who serenaded his idol honoree with a soulful rendition of her classic hit, “Sweet Thing”. An after hours party was also held at the My Studio Night Club where even more celebrity appearances were made by VIP’s wishing to honor Ms. Khan on her special night. American Idol Season 10 frontrunner, Jacob Lusk, performed several songs accompanied by Chaka Khan’s band in tribute of the music icon as well.
